ABSTRACT:
Present Study was focused on Design and Development of in situ gel of Lomefloxacin HCL.Lomefloxacin HCL is an
antibacterial agent which exhibits rapid precorneal elimination and poor ocular bioavailability, when given in the
form of conventional ophthalmic solutions. To overcome this, an attempt has been made to formulate pH-
triggered in situ gelling system of Lomefloxacin HCL to provide sustained release of drug based on polymeric
carriers that undergo sol-to-gel transition upon change in pH. The Lomefloxacin HCL in situ gelling system
formulated by using poly acrylic acid (Carbopol 940) and in combination with hydroxyl propyl methyl cellulose
(HPMC) which acted as viscosity enhancing agent. The developed formulation was stable, non-irritant and
provided sustained release over 8-hour period and it is a viable alternative to conventional eye drops.

ABSTRACT:
An RP-HPLC method was developed and validated for the estimation of Lycopene in bulk drug and solid dosage
forms. The chromatographic system was equipped with Inertsil ODS-3V, C-18, 150 X 4.6mm internal diameter with
5 micron particle size column and PDA detector set at 472 nm, in conjunction with a mobile phase of Methanol,
Tetra Hydro Furan and Water in the ratio of 66:30:4 % v/v at a flow rate of 1.5 ml/min. The retention time of
Lycopene was found to be 6.805 minute. The separation was performed at ambient temperature. Linearity was
observed in the concentration range of 10-80µg/ml with correlation co-efficient 0.9997 and slope
78219.2.Percentage recovery obtained 99.92-100.14 %. The percentage Assay was found to be 100.51 to 102.64
%.The proposed method is precise, accurate, selective and rapid for the determination of lycopene in bulk drug
and solid dosage forms. The proposed method is optimized and validated as per the International Conference on
Harmonization (ICH) guidelines.

ABSTRACT:
Antiulcer activity of seeds of
Moringa Oleifera
was studied in rats in which gastric ulcers were induced by oral
administration of ethanol and pylorus ligation. Seeds extract of
Moringa Oleifera
was administered in the dose of
150 and 200 mg/kg orally. The antiulcer activity was assessed by determining and comparing the ulcer index in the
test group with that of the vehicle control group. Gastric fluid total acidity and free acidity were estimated in
pylorus ligated rats. Omeprazol was used as a reference drug. The results suggested that ethanolic extract of
Moringa Oleifera
possesses significant antiulcer activity.

ABSTRACT:
The aim of the study was to explore unethical issues of abortifacients used in the market of Rajkot city in Gujarat. A
prospective market survey study involving retailers, wholesalers and doctors (M.D.-Gynec) were selected in Rajkot
city located in different areas. They were explained about the objective of the study and given a validated
questionnaire. The questionnaire included the questions regarding most commonly used allopathic and ayurvedic
abortifacients (abortion pills), % sale of allopathic verses ayurvedic drugs, % sale of drugs on prescription, degree
of doctors prescribe the abortion medicines, age factor of patients, sale data in respect of month, most commonly
side effects seen in patients due to usage of self medicated abortion pills, number of self medicated patients
comes for treatment per month etc. This study highlights commonly used self medicated abortifacient drugs in the
patient with marital status and age which gives many types of serious side effects. As per doctors opinion that
ayurvedic abortion pills are not effective in the process of abortion. While in market survey ayurvedic abortion pills
are more used than the allopathic abortion pills by patients. Hence detailed and scientifically designed research on
ayurvedic abortifacients for its effectiveness in the abortion process and to discover the seriousness of side effects
occurred on the usage of self medicated abortifacients by general public to save the public health is highly
required.

ABSTRACT:
Rasayana churna is a well known rejuvenating formulation of Ayurveda, consisting of guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia), gokhru
(Tribulus terrestris) and amla (Embelica officinalis). A UV- spectrophotometric method for the quantitative determination of
berberine in Rasayana churna was developed and validated. The method involved measurement of absorbance of sample
solutions at the absorption maxima of berberine (348 nm). The interference from other compounds was eliminated by
processing the crude drug and the formulations to isolate alkaloidal fraction from them. The method was validated by
determining linearity, precision and accuracy as per the ICH guidelines. Berberine obeyed Beer's law in the concentration
range of 2-20 µg/ml. The method proved to be quite accurate with a mean percentage recovery of 99.21%. Thus, the proposed
method is simple, rapid, precise, accurate, and suitable for quantification of berberine content in samples of Rasayana churna.

ABSTRACT:
Sustained release or controlled release dosage systems have large advantages over conventional drug delivery
systems because of their lesser frequency of dose and controlled release of drug. Pulsatile drug delivery system is
one such system which offers controlled release of drug at desired site and on required time. Its accuracy is
attributed to circardian rhythm of the body and it releases drug in the form of pulse. The relation between
physiology of disease and time along the day is discovered. Drug deliveries in the form of single-unit and multiple-
unit systems are developed.
